In response to a court order, the Kano government has instituted a 24-hour curfew

The government of Kano state has imposed a 24-hour curfew on the whole state.

This is in response to the electoral petitions tribunal’s decision to remove Abba Kabir Yusuf as governor of the state.

Muhammad Usaini Gumel, commissioner of police, said as much in a recent statement.

The statement was signed by the commissioner himself on Wednesday night, and he added that a joint force of security agents has been deployed around the city to implement the curfew.

The State Government of Kano State has issued a 24-hour curfew order, effective from 6 p.m. on Wednesday, September 20, 2023, until 6 p.m.

on Thursday, September 21, 2023, and has requested that all residents of Kano State take note that combined security forces have already been dispatched to the nooks and crannies, including the entry and exits of the state, to ensure enforcement and strict compliance of the 24-hour curfew order.

“The Kano State Police Command has mapped out strategies in that direction and calls on the good people of the state to give the necessary confidence and support” “In view of the Constitutional mandate of the Nigeria Police Force alongside the relevant internal security and law enforcement agencies to preserve law and order in the state,”

He said that those who disobeyed would be taken into custody and brought to justice.

‘Finally, I wish to appreciate all the peace-loving people of the state and urge them to be law-abiding, as it is in the best interest of all that we work together to maintain law and order in the State,’ he said.
