The government of Osun State has spoken out against the encroachment of public school property throughout the state.
What the land grabbers are doing, according to a statement signed by Murtala Jimoh, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, is nothing but complete impunity and lack of respect for the laws.
Those who have encroached on school property or are planning to do so were given notice to immediately remove themselves and their belongings from all government-owned land they have taken over.
He promised that the government would recover any encroached school property and bring those responsible to justice.
The government has outlined the required mechanism to defend against further incursion, but the statement urged school administrators to go about their business without fear of intimidation.
