Lucky Aiyedatiwa, the deputy governor of Ondo State, has asked the people of the state to dismiss a fake resignation letter that has been making the rounds.
Speculations about a covert plot to remove him from office if he did not voluntarily quit preceded Aiyedatiwa’s speech.
Some powerful politicians who support the governor have reportedly threatened the deputy governor, warning that he will be impeached unless he resigns.
After Akeredolu went to an unidentified German hospital, he acted as acting governor for nearly four months.
On Thursday, the Ondo State House of Assembly and the public were asked by the state’s deputy governor to overlook his alleged resignation.
His response includes the following: “I have become aware of a rumor regarding an allegedly pre-written resignation letter, signed by me, that is circulating in the public domain.
Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, Deputy Governor of Ondo State, writes, “I wish to state that I, the duly elected Deputy Governor in a joint ticket with my principal, the Governor of Ondo State, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu, have not, do not intend, and will not sign or author any letter resigning my position as the Deputy Governor.” CON, SAN.
In light of this, I am writing to strongly advise the people of Ondo State, the State Assembly, and the general public to ignore any similar correspondence in the future.
