Babatunde Fashola, SAN, the former Minister of Works and Housing, has announced his retirement from political appointment.
The former governor of Lagos has stated that he is not seeking any official position in the current administration of President Bola Tinubu.
Fashola, who was minister of works in the previous administration for two terms, was expected to rise to a prominent position in the next administration.
Despite being a close confidant of President Bola Tinubu, the former Governor was overlooked for one of the several positions filled by the new administration.
When asked about the need for more exceptional public-spirited people to inhabit spaces as they develop, Fashola told the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN.
He expressed a desire for significantly more young people to be active in the present administration.
His exact words were, “I do not need a title to serve; the President can only pick at least one minister, for example, from each state, which he has done.
“We are all responsible for doing our part as citizens, and it takes no special rank to serve.
The future generation is also a major topic of discussion.
