A supplementary budget of N58 billion was approved by the Enugu Assembly

On Tuesday, the Enugu State Assembly approved Governor Peter Mbah’s supplemental budget of N58,095,482,293.

During the debate, Assembly Minority Leader Iloabuchi Aniagu made the case that the additional budget would help the incoming government launch and complete infrastructure and other important projects.

The Deputy Speaker of the Enugu State House of Assembly, Ezenta Ezeani, has stated that the N58 billion is a continuation of the 2023 budget and cannot include the newly proposed projects.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria, Ezeani said that the governor’s upcoming budget presentation for 2024 would include funding for new projects.

Just after the budget was approved, Assembly Speaker Uche Ugwu made a statement in which he promised that “no part of the State would be marginalised by the government as every part would benefit from the development projects of the new administration.”
