President Bola Tinubu’s rapid intervention with the government of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) resulted in the easing of the visa ban on Nigerians, which has been praised by the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, NIDCOM.
According to a statement released by the Commission’s head of media and public relations, Abdur-Rahman Balogun, Chairman/CEO Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa said that Nigerians who had been working in the UAE but whose work permits had expired were relieved by the news.
The head of NIDCOM predicted that this action will pave the way for closer ties and friendship between Nigeria and the United Arab Emirates.
She added that the bilateral discussion paved the way for large investments in a wide range of Nigerian industries after the embargo was lifted and flights resumed.
The Chairman of NIDCOM expressed her gratitude to the Nigerian community in the UAE and encouraged its members to continue to represent Nigeria well.
A diplomatic dispute between the two nations has been ongoing for over a year, causing incalculable suffering for Nigerian travelers and residents of the United Arab Emirates.
