IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun has spoken out against the brutal killing of Bako Angbashim, the Divisional Police Officer of the Ahoada Division in the state of Rivers.
The DPO was shot and killed on Friday night by masked individuals who the SAREWAHAUSA speculated were local cult members terrorizing the neighborhood.
A viral video claims that the dismembered body of a dead DPO was the result of a brutal murder in which the perpetrators used weapons.
The DPO was reportedly slain while leading an operation in the region.
In response, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Force Public Relations Officer, released a statement on behalf of the IGP, stating that the IGP has issued an order for the arrest and prosecution of those responsible.
For the IGP, “such an act is not only an affront on the national status but also a reflection of lack of patriotism and gross illegality.”
He stressed that any illegal activity against a government agent will be met with zero tolerance and that the culprits will be made to feel the full force of the law.
The IGP expressed his deepest sympathies to SP Bako Angbashim’s loved ones and devoted colleagues and friends, and he urged them to carry on Angbashim’s legacy of service, humility, and selflessness.
