Leonardo, the ex-sporting director at PSG, has stated that Lionel Messi, Neymar, and Kylian Mbappé lacked the backing and recognition they needed to establish a winning environment during their time in France.
PSG’s star-studded attacking trio has won the league the past two years, but they have been unable to lead the club to Champions League glory.
People, they have to be at ease. These athletes must be in a positive frame of mind, where they feel appreciated and valued.
“And the ones who have to do that are the club, us, and the coaches,” Leonardo told the Brazilian newspaper Ge.
While Messi signed with Inter Miami CF as a free agent this summer, Mbappé is in the final year of his contract with PSG. Neymar was transferred to Al Hilal of Saudi Arabia at €90 million.
