Workers at Warri Port have joined the National Labor Committee’s strike

Workers at the Nigerian Ports Authority in Warri, Delta State, heeded the warning strike called for by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and did not show up for work for both days.

Workers’ compliance with the strike was verified by the fact that they successfully blocked access to Warri Port.

In order to maintain a tranquil work environment and monitor compliance, roughly eleven NLC personnel were spotted at the port’s entrance.

There were no placards or overt demonstrations, but the tension was apparent. NLC officials stood out in their white polo shirts and white face hats.

Many workers on the two-day warning strike appeared to be unaware of the specific reasons for the action, according to reports.

When pressed for information, they either said “no comment” or sent us to their superiors.
