There has been a decrease in criminal activity in the Isuikwuato and Umuwneochi Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Abia State, according to the House of Representatives Ad Hoc Committee tasked with this task.
In a statement released on Tuesday, Committee Chairman Obinna Aguocha asserted that criminals had been forced to flee the area due to the actions taken by the green chamber and the security infrastructure in place there.
Aguocha also said that farming and business are getting back to normal.
But he said that efforts are well underway to involve southeast governors, traditional and religious leaders, and other key stakeholders in discussions about security.
“We have interfaced with relevant security agencies and Service Chiefs on the imperative to reduce kidnappings, assassinations, and banditry in the southeast,” he explained.
The President’s intervention is demonstrated by the appearance of the Service Chiefs at all of the Committee’s public hearings, so the Chairman also thanked him for his support and encouragement in the pursuit of peace in the Southeast.
