You can’t send National Youth Service Corps members to states where banditry is rife, Shinkafi said

Former head of the Committee for the Investigation and Prosecution of Bandit Crimes The governor of Zamfara State, Sani Shinkafi, issued a statement on Monday urging the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) to cease sending recruits to states where bandits have been conducting frequent attacks.

He thinks the NYSC should stop sending corps members to places like Zamfara, Kebbi, and Sokoto.

He made this comment during an appearance on a morning show on Channels Television.

The SAREWAHAUSA reports that two weeks ago, eight NYSC personnel were kidnapped by armed gunmen while traveling along a highway in Zamfara.

He recommended that Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State have a “peace dialogue” with reformed bandits, noting that Lawal’s predecessor, Bello Matawalle’s, approach of engaging in dialogue with the terrorists was effective in securing the release of abductees in the state.

His words of despair: “No place in the 14 local governments of Zamfara is safe, many people are killed, and many people are kidnapped.”
