Rivers State Police Command officers arrested Patrick Essien for reportedly stabbing his landlord into a coma in Rumuiprikon, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of the state.
The landlord, known as Iheanyichukwu America, was said to have volunteered to save Essien’s wife from him when she was being abused.
Chioma America, the landlord’s wife, claimed that even when her husband intervened, Essien continued to bring his wife into their home.
She alleged that during his intervention, the landlord stated that in order to avoid more attacks by her husband, he would not allow his tenant’s wife to sleep in that residence that night.
“He (Essien) tried to drag the wife inside with him,” Mrs America said. But my husband stated he wasn’t going to let him. He was still inside the house when my husband stated that due to the scenario, he would not allow the woman to sleep in their home.
“She should stay at my husband’s family home, and we’ll decide what to do in the morning.” As a result, he evicted the woman from their home.
“Then, around 12 midnight, the man came to attack my husband while he was on his way to see if his wife was in our house, but she wasn’t.”
“The person he met was my husband, and he now unleashed the attack on him in place of his wife.”
Gladys Bardey, the landlord’s elder sister, expressed sadness at the tenant’s actions and suggested that the case be taken to court.
“I was sleeping when they called to tell me that he (landlord) had been stabbed by his tenant this morning.”
“So I began going there to see if what I had heard was true.” “And it’s true because I saw him, and the injury is severe,” Gladys explained.
