How a dummy soldier thwarted So-Safe’s attempts to round up cultists in Ogun

Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun State, is where a young guy named Sanni Ayuba was apprehended for reportedly pretending to be a member of the Nigerian Army.

So-Safe Corps agents tracked down Ayuba “for using fake military ID card and insignia to hijack suspected cultists in Ogun.”

According to a statement released by State Commander of the Corps Soji Ganzallo, Sanni’s impersonation was an attempt to smear the military’s good name “as the imposter forcefully intervened to stop the arrest of some wanted cult boys at Adigbe, Opako in Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State.”

The So-Safe Corps allegedly detained two cult suspects and brought them to the station in handcuffs.

According to Ganzallo, “to the corps dismay,” Sanni Alhaji Ayuba “flashed a military Identity card and stopped the officers from performing their security duties and the suspects were hijacked; they escaped with handcuffs.”

Ayuba and two other guys, all of whom claimed to be Naval officers, were seen fleeing the scene by DAILY POST.

After a thorough investigation, Ganzallo said, the phony soldier was taken into custody, but the two pretending to be Navy officials managed to get away.

The suspect had admitted to him that he was dressing as a military officer, he said.

The suspect was found in possession of several goods, including an Army camouflage scarf, a false Army ID card, a jack knife, an Itel phone, three ATM cards, a WAEC ID card, a dog chain with arms pendants, and a WAEC ID card.

According to Moruf Yusuf, a spokesman for the So-Safe Corps, the suspect and the evidence have been sent to the police CIID in Eleweran, Abeokuta, where further investigation and possible prosecution can take place.
