As a result of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC), the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) claims the country has ground to a halt.
Party National Publicity Secretary Debo Ologunagba released a statement on Monday, blaming Tinubu’s leadership for the country’s instability and low levels of confidence in its government.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) claims that Senator @officialABAT and the All Progressives Congress (APC) are leading Nigeria to a state of suffocation, major challenges, and a quick grinding to a halt. @OfficialAPCNg.
The Party is upset because “under the Tinubu-led APC hold, which lacks the acceptability and followership of citizens, Nigeria is on the brink of the abyss,” resulting in widespread dissatisfaction with the country’s leadership.
The Party is concerned that the widespread hardship, terrifying insecurity, and overall sense of anxiety that has resulted from poorly considered and hastily executed policies could eventually jeopardise the peace, unity, and corporate existence of our nation.
In removing subsidy and floating the Naira, the government showed a lack of imagination, tact, and sensitivity towards the wellbeing of Nigerians. This led to an increase in poverty, hunger, insecurity, and hopelessness across the country, as well as a decrease in national productivity and the collapse of millions of businesses.
An estimated 150 million Nigerians have been made unemployed over the previous two months, leaving them unable to provide for their families. This results in many households going to night without enough food.
Since May 29, 2023, more than 500 Nigerians have been killed in Plateau, Benue, Niger, Kaduna, and other States of the federation, and many more have been abducted; the PDP describes this as distressing, claiming that the APC government has turned a blind eye to the plight of Nigerians and made no concrete commitment towards the safety of the lives of our citizens.
Since eight corps members were kidnapped on their way to Sokoto State to perform their mandatory one-year national service, the APC administration has failed to take appropriate action to ensure the security, safety, and wellness of its citizens.
“More disturbing is the recent downing of a Nigerian military aircraft with attendant loss of lives of our brave and gallant military personnel without a corresponding reassuring statement from the APC government,” the PDP said.
The opposition party maintains that life expectancy in the country has decreased while the APC has been in power.
Under the current APC administration, life expectancy in Nigeria has plummeted. The population lives in constant worry for their safety, paralysed by the threat of kidnapping and murder.
The APC government is ready to get Nigeria involved in a war with Niger Republic over an issue that has nothing to do with Nigeria, rather than trying to keep Nigerians safe.
“Our Party is concerned that the general sense of despondency, anxiety, distress, and disconnection in the country, if not urgently addressed, could deteriorate into a serious crisis,” they said.
The PDP has issued a call to all citizens of Nigeria to maintain calm, follow the rules, and support one another in making Nigeria a better, safer place to live.
