performance on the West African Senior School Certificate Examinations (WASSCE) was made public by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC).
The results were reportedly made public by the examining authority today.
Examining body public affairs chief Moyosola Adesina has confirmed the result’s release.
Results for the 2023 WASSCE will not be released to students from eight states that have outstanding debts to the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) for various services.
On Monday, WAEC announced this to the press at their Yaba headquarters.
The examining body expressed concern that the inability to pay for services performed was hindering its operations.
In response to an inquiry about whether states owe WAEC money, Mr. Patrick Areghan, WAEC’s National Officer, said, “About eight states are owing WAEC. Some of them are going to have to pay, so we won’t name them all.
But the two countries with the greatest debts are Zamfara and Niger. “Once again, Zamfara did not submit a candidate for the WASSCE,” Areghan said.

Participants in the 2023 WASSCE can view their scores either online at the WAEC’s result-checking portal or via text message (SMS) if they don’t have access to the internet.
