The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Management has denied claims that Corps members would be deployed to Niger Republic by the Federal Government to fight for the restoration of democracy in the troubled country.
Eddy Megwa, NYSC’s Director of Press and Public Relations, condemned the story as false in a press statement issued on Saturday.
The spokesman further asked the general public, serving and prospective Corps members, and their parents to dismiss the report, which he described as “criminality in its entirety.”
“The attention of NYSC Management has been drawn to a video circulating on social media alleging that the Federal Government would deploy Corps Members to Niger Republic to fight a war for the restoration of democracy in the country.”
“Management wishes to state that the story fabricated by the purveyor, a skit and content creator, in order to drive traffic to his platform contains no iota of truth.”
“The general public, particularly Corps Members, prospective Corps Members, and their parents, should disregard the entire story, which borders on criminality.”
“Content and skit creators are strongly advised to refrain from disseminating false information capable of undermining national peace.”
“Law Enforcement Agencies will stop at nothing to bring the purveyors of the story to justice,” said the statement.
