Robert Sanchez, a goalkeeper for Brighton, has agreed to join Chelsea for a reported £25 million (plus bonuses).
Since trading Edouard Mendy to Saudi Arabia’s Al-Ahli, the Blues have been on the lookout for a new goalkeeper.
Sanchez, at age 25, will compete with Kepa Arrizabalaga, at age 25, for the starting position.
The coaching team at Chelsea will be familiar with the Spaniard because goalkeeping coach Ben Roberts worked with him at Brighton.
Sanchez, then 15 years old, joined the Seagulls from Levante’s youth program in 2013.
