Tinubu Assures That We Will Back Google In Its Effort To Create 1 Million Digital Jobs In Nigeria

The Federal Government (FG) of Nigeria is eager to help Google, the worldwide technology giant, create one million digital jobs in Nigeria, according to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The President made the offer on Friday in Abuja, at a meeting with Google News Vice President Richard Gingras.

Tinubu reassured the Google executive visiting Nigeria that the country’s youth are both creative and talented and eager to learn.

I’m happy that Google is willing to work with us. You have heard our pleas for assistance and digital innovation in the field of youth development.

You’re helping us spread the word about the benefits of the digital economy. We’re eager to collaborate with you to fulfill your promise of helping Nigeria produce one million digital employment.

We will provide you with everything you need to successfully implement your CSR initiatives. “We have started our economic reforms, even though tortuous,” Tinubu was reported as saying in a statement released by Dele Alake, Special Adviser to the President on Special Duties, Communications, and Strategy.

Tinubu, responding to Google’s defense of free expression, press freedom, and democracy on its platforms, stated that protecting these values is in the public interest.

Maintaining a free press and an open forum for public discourse is in the public interest. He affirmed the group’s dedication to upholding “a free society.”

At the same time, Gingras assured Tinubu that his company is interested in Nigeria and willing to back the federal government.

He detailed Google’s various features, such as its artificial intelligence and other digital advancements that are helping young people break into the business world.

Gingras added that the Google undersea cable Equiano, so-called because it was named after a Nigerian abolitionist who worked to free slaves, will have a major effect on the demand for internet access in the future.

Vice President Osinbajo said that Google wants to continue working with the Nigerian government, and he made a guarantee that the company would help secure Nigeria in the age of disinformation and fake news.

Google is really keen on the Nigerian market. We’re on board with the government’s goal of producing 1,000,000 digital employment. We have everything we need to make this a reality. We have spoken with your National Security Adviser on how we might assist in securing Nigeria.

I’m a student from the United States, and I came to Nigeria to better my education. I’m taking a lot of inspiration from my trip home. Young people in your country are incredibly dynamic, creative, and talented, and they are eager to try new things.

Gingras pledged continued assistance for the initiatives “to expand your digital economy.”
