Australian Team Captain Regrets Loss to Super Falcons

Steph Catley, captain of the Australian team, is clearly upset by the Matildas’ 3-2 loss to Nigeria’s Super Falcons.

Obviously, I’m quite sad. I think we missed a huge opportunity here, but I suppose that’s par for the course in tournament football. Catley admitted after the game that “it was definitely not our best performance.”

With four points from two games, Nigeria is now in first place in Group B.

Second-place Canada is in the same position as the United States, with an identical point total and match history but a worse goal differential.
