Attack on Zamfara Town Claims Lives of Seven Soldiers

 

According to reports, seven soldiers were slain in an ambush by suspected bandits in Zamfara State.

Several people in the Kangon Garacce settlement in the Dangulbi area of the Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara were killed on Monday afternoon after being attacked by the Bandits.

On Tuesday, however, a local resident named Lawal Dangulbi told Channels Television that the military had been ambushed by the bandits because they had responded to a distress call regarding an attack on the Dangulbi hamlet.

He said that the bandits had split up, with some attacking the town within and others waiting outside to make sure the military didn’t come to the aid of the locals. Then they had surprised the soldiers and killed seven of them.

He claims that at least 20 people in the neighborhood were slain in the assault.

A security source acquainted with the issue who spoke on condition of anonymity confirmed the attack to Channels Television, while the Nigerian Army authorities in Zamfara State have not officially commented on the incident.

According to him, seven Nigerian Army officers were slain in Monday’s strike.
