Prof. Abdul Rasheed Na’Allah, Vice Chancellor of the University of Abuja, announced on Tuesday that registering a corporation is now a must for all students.
Speaking to the media about the work of his administration over the past four years, Na’Allah emphasized the significant strides made in the areas of infrastructure, education, and industry at the university.
He said that through collaboration with the Abuja Chamber of Commerce, the school’s curriculum had been upgraded to include instruction on how to register one’s own company so that students would be less reliant on the government and businesses for employment.
He went on to say, “The industry is constantly working with us and we’re always seeing something new. They’re constantly visiting our campus to teach our students and contribute to our curriculum.”
“One of the novelties this time around is that over a thousand students at this university have registered their firms with CAC. These students have companies, and some of them are graduating; others are at the 300 level and have opportunity to put their enterprises into practice.
We tell our students, “We’re not providing you certificate simply to go and hunt for employment; we’re charging you to employ yourself and generate wealth, charging them to alter their thinking, and many of them have already registered their firms; you can check the record at the California Secretary of State’s website.
It is now an official policy at the University of Abuja that no student can earn a degree unless they have a firm that has been established with the Companies and Allied Registration Commission (CAC).
You need to have registered the firm a year or two before you graduate in order to put it into practice.
