father of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, former Chelsea striker, has revealed that his son is smiling again.
The 34-year-old has already gone through a rough patch in both Spain and West London.
Formerly of Chelsea, the Gabonese striker has transferred to Ligue 1’s Olympique de Marseille.
According to Pierre-Francois, Aubameyang had a “nightmare year” at Stamford Bridge. This was reported in L’Équipe.
Aubameyang, now 34, was attacked by robbers in Barcelona, where he was playing before joining Chelsea last summer, breaking his jaw in the process.
After Chelsea owners fired Thomas Tuchel, his position at Stamford Bridge was immediately threatened, and he eventually went farther down the pecking order under new manager Graham Potter.
Most of his time in West London was spent on the bench.
“His jaw was broken by robbers at his home in Barcelona while he was trying to protect his wife and children,” he told L’Équipe.
At Chelsea, he wore a mask throughout his early games. This can only be the worst year ever.
It’s finished now. He’s smiling. Now that I’m able to walk and run again after my surgery, he knows I’m finally getting better. And, I might add, he’s going to sign with OM.
