Every impediment to judicial independence should be avoided

As Nigerians around the country protest the increase in fuel prices, the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) has requested President Bola Tinubu to declare a state of emergency over the country’s four refineries.

According to reports, Dr. Joseph Obele, the IPMAN Chairman in Rivers State, stated this while speaking to journalists yesterday.

Obele, on the other hand, lamented that the increase in fuel prices would triple the sufferings of the populace and urged President Tinubu to declare a state of emergency over the country’s four refineries.

“It is true that on Tuesday, July 18th. On the NNPC Portal, we saw a new buying rate. The previous buying price per litre was N487.7. Going future, the new purchase rate is N567.7 per litre.

“The new selling rates start at N600, N610, N620, and go up from there.”

“It will cause hardship for citizens, and marketers will need to find additional trading capital in order to stay in business.”

“The Nigerian economy is in trouble, and the inflation index will rise further.”

“Our solution is to repair Nigeria’s refineries.” Mr. President, proclaim a state of emergency over Nigeria’s refineries.” The Chairman of IPMAN stated.
