Mrs. Amarachi Nwanozie, a 53-year-old woman, was allegedly raped to death by a group of six men in Abia State.
Abia State Community Policing/Vigilante, Isiala Ngwa Community South Command reportedly discovered her naked body, mobile phone, and a bundle of cassava stem in a bush near her property.
Mrs. Nwanozie went missing on July 12, 2023, and her husband apparently reported her missing that evening, as reported by Daily Post.
“She left for her farm earlier in the day, at around 9am, unfortunately she didn’t return on time, which raised suspicions about her whereabouts,” he stated.
He then notified the Amangwa Vigilante Service, Isiala Ngwa South Command, who launched a search for the woman and a manhunt for the perpetrators.
According to the Daily Post, the search team found her body on Thursday, and the injuries found around her privates indicated that she may have been raped before her death.
Dr. Daniel Iheadindueme, the State Commandant of Abia State Community Policing/Vigilante, conducted an extensive investigation, detained six individuals, and turned them over to the Omoba Police division for further investigation.
The accused were taken to the headquarters of the Isiala Ngwa Area Command.
Meanwhile, the mortuary is now holding her body.
