Soludo tells IPOB that Anambra will not obey sit-at-home orders

The governor of Anambra state, Charles Soludo, has warned that his state and its citizens will not heed any illegal sit-in orders imposed by suspected members of the Indigenous People of Biafra, or IPOB.

Governor Soludo made this public following the state government’s decision that residents should disregard any sit-in order issued by unauthorised individuals or groups in the state going forward.

This was revealed in a statement made by the governor’s press secretary, Mr Christian Aburime, on Thursday.

According to the statement, the decision was prompted by Simon Ekpa’s recent order to sit at home.

The state administration asked inhabitants not to comply with such non-state actor demands or to blame themselves for doing so.

“Such directives should be completely ignored by the citizens of Anambra and, by extension, the entire South East,” the statement said.

“Imposing sit-at-home orders by unauthorized individuals or groups is a clear violation of the law.”

“Anambra State will never obey a sit-down order.” Our markets, schools, businesses, and other social events will continue to operate as usual.

“Anambra State will never become a breeding ground for anarchy, fear, or lawlessness.”

The IPOB sit-in order has compelled numerous schools and business owners to close their doors.

The IPOB stated that they will continue to enforce the order until their leader, Nnamdi Kanu, is released from the custody of the Federal Government.
