IPOB: Peter Obi Should Have Condemned The Sit-At-Home

Reno Omokri, a popular socio-political analyst and former presidential adviser, has attacked Peter Obi, the Labour Party (LP) flagbearer in the 2023 elections, for his comments on the South East sit-at-home order.
In a series of tweets on Thursday, Omokiri said Obi should not have absolved the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) of blame for the ongoing sit-in in the South East.

He claimed that the LP candidate should have simply criticized the sit-in and the insecurity, loss of life, and livelihood it is causing in the region.

According to Omokri, absolving IPOB of being behind the sit-in order has positioned him as the outlawed group’s spokesman.

“Peter Obi should never have released that tweet in which he absolved IPOB of responsibility for the ongoing sit-in in the Southeast,” he stated. This is not a joke from the bottom of my heart.

“This is a sincere message of concern.” Peter should have criticized the sit-in, as well as the insecurity and loss of lives and livelihoods it is inflicting, and then stopped. By absolving IPOB of responsibility, he positioned himself as their spokesperson.

“Obi could be correct or incorrect. But let IPOB speak for themselves. IPOB has a spokesperson. Allow the guy to perform his job. Speaking for a separatist organisation is not in the best interests of a politician hoping to be Nigeria’s President.

“Peter should be as opposed to IPOB as Tinubu is to any Yoruba separatist movement.” Let someone else say it. Not you, sir. Certainly not you! You’re much too large for that. Or, at the very least, you should be.

“If I were Peter, I’d fire whoever advised him to issue that tweet.” Because the common Nigerian would not trust his denial of IPOB’s responsibility. Even Obidients from geopolitical zones other than the Southeast will find it difficult to believe. In a nutshell, it was needless. The only persons who benefited were IPOB.”
