Argentina manager Lionel Scaloni has stated that replacing Lionel Messi is ‘difficult’.
Argentina will face Indonesia in their second international friendly match of the FIFA summer vacation tomorrow.
Scaloni has decided to rest Messi, allowing the 35-year-old to skip the trip to Jakarta.
Angel di Maria of Juventus and Nicolas Otamendi of SL Benfica will also miss the game.
When asked who will replace Messi against Indonesia during his pre-match press conference, Scaloni said,
“Who will take Messi’s place tomorrow?” None. Nobody can play as well as Messi.
“However, knowing that he is an impossible player to replace, we will try to force the team to play in the same manner.”
“The team is trained to perform just as well, and we’ll give it a shot.” Nobody will take Messi’s place, but other players will do something similar.”
