Godwin Amobi Ogar, a House of Representatives member-elect on the Labour Party platform, has praised President Bola Tinubu, saying he never thought the APC presidential candidate was that intelligent and ready to serve Nigeria.
Amobi, who was elected from Abia State, claimed this in an interview with newsmen following a meeting between federal lawmakers-elect and Tinubu at the State House to address the National Assembly’s continuing leadership problem.
The LP House of Representatives member quietly criticized Peter Obi, his party’s presidential candidate, who is still contesting Tinubu’s victory at the Presidential Election Petition Court in Abuja.
SaharaReporters previously revealed that Tinubu met with lawmakers-elect from opposition political parties to discuss the escalating leadership battle.
Opposition senators-elect and House of Representatives members-elect from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Labour Party (LP), and New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), among others, attended the meeting at the State House in Abuja.
“Well, I can tell you that today is my best day, today I’m so happy that I’m an elected member seeing my President talking,” Amobi told reporters following the meeting. In fact, I had no idea this man was that clever. I had no idea this man was so eager to serve his country.
“I saw love, character, charisma, and the belief that Nigeria can be a better nation.” So I’m relieved that our meeting today will help us get a little closer to a more stable house. Even without speaking with us again, we’ve agreed to follow the government’s decision. Not to worry, I’m a member of the Labour Party.
“At the moment, the party is not the issue; we’re talking about building the nation, about national unity.”
