Mrs Juliana Angulu née Ageba’s excitement overflowed when she married Donald Angulu, a diploma holder from Isa Mustapha Agwai Polytechnic Lafia, in June 2018.
She met Donald in Lafia when she first arrived at the polytechnic for a pre-diplima program, while Donald was already in his final year of his HND degree.
After a year of dating, they decided to marry, and they signed the dotted lines in a traditional marriage ceremony in Withamba Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, with Julianah expressing her excitement and praising God for delivering her the man of her dreams.
That remained the case for several years when the couple settled in Lafia, the capital of Nasarawa State, where Donald maintained a business center and a barbershop while his wife ran a POS business in a different part of town.
Juliana, who was in the habit of declaring her husband’s sincere love to friends and relatives at every opportunity, was unable to conceive a child five years later.
The pair sought medical attention at the ‘Police Clinic’ Lafia, where the husband received a clean bill of health, notably in terms of sperm count. Juliana’s reproductive organs were fine, according to the findings of the examinations she received. Nonetheless, the couple’s inability to have a child remained a cause of concern for them.
As they feverishly looked for the fruit of the womb, their frustration gave way to desperation.
According to reliable sources, the husband was perplexed that his wife could not become pregnant after nearly six years of marriage, despite medical examinations giving both of them a clean bill of health.
Donald was drawn into a covert romance with Juliana’s elder sister, Charity Ageba, who had completed secondary school for a long time but was reported to be uninterested in completing her studies and was also unlucky in finding a husband.
Charity, tired of sitting at home, decided to relocate to Lafia to live with her younger sister (Juliana). Donald and Juliana decided that Charity should help Donald at the computer center/barbing salon so that she would not be bored at home in Lafia. It was anticipated that she would gain computer skills and manage that aspect of the business, while Donald would focus on the barbershop, allowing the company to thrive.
However, rather than concentrating on the computer element of the business, Charity began an illicit affair with her younger sister’s husband.
According to a source, Juliana and her husband regularly left home early for their various shops, leaving Charity behind to prepare the food they would consume at their shops later in the day.
Donald would return home after cleaning his business to take a bath, which became an occasion for Donald and Charity to engage in clandestine romance.
Charity was already two months pregnant without their awareness, and Juliana had no idea. Donald, on the other hand, was aware of the situation and reached an agreement with Charity to continue the pregnancy even if the worst-case scenario occurred.
Juliana was shocked to learn last month that her loving husband had broken the love and trust she had placed in him by not only having an affair with Charity but also becoming pregnant with her.
To make matters worse, her husband is adamant on allowing Charity to deliver the unborn child in the house, and has already given Juliana the yellow card if she refuses to accept both Charity and the baby. Donald was reportedly said to have advised Juliana not to reveal the situation to the public, acquaintances, or family members.
“I was the one who allowed Charity to come stay with us in Lafia,” Juliana claimed in an exclusive interview with The Nation. She was grown enough, but she didn’t have a husband, so she stayed at home and did nothing.
“I couldn’t say no when she expressed an interest in visiting us. So she came, and my husband welcomed her warmly. They were the best of friends, but I had no idea it would turn into a farcical comedy.
“Life as a housewife is usually difficult. Rather than staying at home and relying exclusively on my spouse, I chose to raise N300,000 to start a small POS business. As a result, I was never at home.
“In the same location, my husband operates a mini computer service center and a barbershop.” They were two shops in one plaza, and we were doing well together.
“When my sister arrived, we all agreed that she should learn some skills at the computer center rather than staying at home idle while both of us were away hurstling.”
