Mrs. Wasilat Saka, a public servant, begged a Grade 1 Area Court in Kubwa, Abuja, to dissolve her marriage to Tajudeen Jimoh on Thursday due to alleged abandonment and divergent religious beliefs.
On July 30, 2022, Mrs. Saka married Jimoh in accordance with Islamic Law; she also added that no children were born of the union.
She stated that Jimoh, who identified himself as a Muslim, abandoned her and refused to observe the Islamic rituals for months.
“Neither the Ramadan fast nor the five daily prayers are observed by my husband.
Saka added, “I implore the court to allow my plea for a divorce since we often argue and fight.
Even though Jimoh was not present in court, Mr. Dangana Bawa, the court bailiff, submitted proof that he received the hearing notification.
Judge Ibrahim Rufai postponed making a decision in the case until June 13.
