Lionel Messi, the captain of Argentina, has given his reasoning for not moving to Saudi Arabia.
Messi had been linked to a move to Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal before he played his final match for Paris Saint-Germain last Sunday against Clermont Foot.
The World Cup champion from Argentina has previously been linked with a move back to Barcelona, but he will now sign with Major League Soccer (MLS) team Inter Miami.
Messi claims that he chose not to relocate to Saudi Arabia because he had already made up his mind to go somewhere else (Inter Miami), not because he was financially able to do so.
“I would have traveled to Arabia or somewhere else if it had been a matter of money. I thought it was a big sum of money,” Messi told Mundo Deportivo.
The reality is that I don’t make my ultimate decision based on finances.
