Ndubuisi Nwobu, a witness of Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party’s presidential candidate in the February 25th presidential elections, has detailed how the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, stole the poll in Anambra state.
On Wednesday, Nwobu told the presidential election tribunal that “magic happened to the votes of the PDP candidate at various collation centers.”
According to the Independent Electoral Commission, Peter Obi received 584, 621 votes in Anambra, Atiku received 9,036 votes, and Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress received 5, 111 votes.
During the proceedings, Nwobu, the Anambra PDP chairman and the party’s state collation agent, told the court that after the votes were counted, the presiding officers refused to submit the results.
On election day, he said he went to around 30 polling places out of the 4,720 in the state.
He claimed he was forced to sign the election result sheet at the state collation center because he would not have been given a copy if he did not.
“I signed the result sheet when it was obvious that without signing, a copy would not be made available to me,” Nwobu explained.
“The results were recorded at polling stations. Every attempt to get the presiding officer to upload it to IREV was futile.”
When questioned if result sheets were signed by PDP operatives at polling units before being delivered to the collation center, Nwobu said, “Yes.”
“They were taken to the ward level collation center.” “That’s when the magic began,” he explained.
“There were issues with presiding officers at polling places.”
He stated that he had to act in certain cases to prevent voters and other party workers from attacking INEC employees.
“Even in certain instances, I had to intervene to ensure that some of the polling officers were not attacked by voters and other political party agents,” Nwobu stated.
Nwobu is Atiku’s eleventh witness to appear before the five-member panel, which is chaired by Haruna Tsammani.
