Seyi Makinde, has revealed why he, former Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, and former Delta State Governor, James Ibori met with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Friday.
According to Information Nigeria, Makinde and Wike are major members of the Integrity Group (G-5), a group formed during the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) turmoil in the run-up to the 2023 elections.
The duo also contributed to President Tinubu’s victory in the February 25, 2023 election.
The goal of their visit, according to Makinde, was to show support for the current administration.
When asked why they were in the Villa, Makinde replied:
“To let him know that he is off to a good start and that the majority of the people support him.”
In response to whether they discussed the subsidy problem, he stated:
“Yes, we talked about it. It is currently in the forefront of public debate. We understand that this is a difficult decision for the people, and he will need everyone’s help to see it through.”
Wike, in response to the subsidy removal, stated
“It’s no big deal; the governor of Oyo has told you what we came to do: to support him.” We endorse all of his decisions because they demonstrate that he is prepared for the position, which is a good thing.
“For a country to progress, difficult decisions must be made.”
