According to the Daily Mail, Chelsea’s owners have admitted that firing Thomas Tuchel last September was a mistake.
Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital, the team’s co-owners, fired Tuchel after only a few games this season.
Boehly brought in Graham Potter from Premier League rivals Brighton almost immediately.
Potter was also fired after only seven months in charge.
Although the relationship with Tuchel was never going to work in the long run, it is now accepted that it would have been better to keep the German coach for a season to allow for a more orderly transition.
The Americans also believe that they overcompensated by hiring Potter because he was so skilled at working with executives and owners.
Frank Lampard has been named interim manager of the Blues, while a deal has been reached with Mauricio Pochettino to become the club’s new permanent manager.
