To improve transparency in traffic management across the state, the Lagos State Government has deployed 500 additional Traffic Management Solution (TMS) devices to personnel of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA).
Mr Bolaji Oreagba, General Manager of LASTMA, announced this on Friday at the end of a 21-day scientific training of personnel on the use of TMS devices.
According to Oreagba, the current administration has introduced numerous modern technological innovations to address the state’s transportation challenges.
He stated that among the many advantages are the body camera for accurate traffic management.
According to him, ‘TMS’ body cameras will provide accurate validation of any tale offered by both traffic law enforcement officers and motorists.
He stated that TMS, pictorial, and Video evidence would aid in the investigation of complaints filed by disgruntled motorists.
Oreagba assured that officers had been properly trained in the use of the cameras.
He claimed that officers could operate the devices and that the camera would have a significant impact on defiant driving behavior.
“It will be a clear procedure for both law enforcement officers and motorists.”
“Minor traffic law violations will be resolved through detailed recordings to be presented/analyzed at the Lagos State Mobile Court,” Oreagba said.
He did, however, urge members of the public, particularly motorists, to always be aware of traffic laws and obey road traffic signs throughout the state.
Mr. is a LASTMA officer.
Olokodana Daodu, the best officer during the training sessions, stated that the camera would add an extra layer of security for LASTMA officers.
Daodu stated that knowing they would be captured by the body camera would deter would-be attackers from carrying out their heinous crime.
He thanked the Lagos State Government for providing the devices, which would significantly reduce physical contact with the motoring public, particularly traffic violators, during enforcement across the state.
Oreagba urged motorists to contact the agency if they had any observations or comments about the agency’s activities by dialing 08100565860, 08129928503, or 08129928597.
