After his wife demanded a divorce, a man killed her.
The woman, 25, has been identified only as Eunice.
She was allegedly murdered by her husband in Nungua, Ghana’s Greater Accra Region, after she requested a divorce.
According to local media, her husband macheted her during a scuffle, and she died on the spot.
The suspect was also accused of assaulting his father-in-law.
Eunice was said to have moved out of the house due to her husband’s emotional and physical abuse. Her father, Ebenezer Dwomoh, confirmed her death during an interview with Adom FM’s morning show.
Dwomoh stated that the incident occurred when Eunice went to her husband’s house to present a summon letter from the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit.
Mr Dwomoh described his son-in-law as a serial wife beater, forcing his daughter to leave the house.
“Eunice moved out of the house because she could no longer take the beatings, so this man decided to make her life a living hell for her,” he explained. He’ll come to our house and beat her up. He followed my daughter around and beat her until he killed her on that fateful day.”
He claimed that after committing the heinous crime, the suspect attempted to flee, but residents in the area apprehended him and sentenced him to death.
