At least 19 Akwa Ibom State University students have been arrested for internet-related offenses.
This was revealed in a statement posted on the organization’s website on Tuesday, noting that the suspects were apprehended on Friday, April 28, 2023.
The undergraduate students were arrested at their private hostels, Obong Abasi Lodge and Mfon Obong Lodge, in Ikot Akpadem, Akwa Ibom state’s Mkpat-Enin Local Government Area.
“On Friday, April 28, 2023, 19 undergraduates from Akwa Ibom State University, Mkpat-Enin, were arrested by operatives from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s Uyo Command for suspected internet-related offenses.”
“Their arrest came after months of investigation into their alleged involvement.”
