The Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, has expressed his heartfelt congratulations to Christians in Nigeria as they join their brethren around the world in commemorating Jesus Christ’s death and resurrection.
Lawan urged the Christian faithful to reflect on the season’s significance as they celebrate Easter.
The Senate President stated that as people celebrate Easter for Jesus’ victory over death on the cross and his resurrection, which gives people hope for eternal life, they should also pray for Nigeria’s peace and prosperity.
He stated that the occasion should bolster their nation’s hope of triumphing over its current challenges of nation-building and the imminence of better days.
He is also urged all Nigerians, especially religious leaders and clerics, to pray for Nigeria’s peaceful political transition.
Lawan also requested prayers for God’s blessings and guidance for the incoming national and state governments, including the soon-to-be-established 10th National Assembly and state Houses of Assembly.
