Bishop Oyedepo and other pastors have received criticism from Primate Ayodele for their support of Peter Obi.

Primate Elijah Ayodele, the head of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, has warned Nigerians against calling pastors who backed Peter Obi of the Labour Party, LP, a fake, including Bishop David Oyedepo of Living Faith Church, Pastor Paul Enenche of Dunamis International Christian Center, and others.

Primate Ayodele pleaded with Nigerians not to place the blame on the pastors since they desired change in the nation in a statement that was signed by his media assistant, Osho Oluwatosin.

He clarified that they only offered statements and prayers in support of Obi rather than making prophesies.

The man of God said that the fault should actually go on the opposition candidates, not the pastors who backed them through their pastoral callings, because they didn’t even pay attention to the prophetic guidance given to them in order to win the election.

He stated:

People ought to stop criticizing religious leaders who backed Peter Obi for president. They only want change, so you can’t hold it against them. They desire a change since the country is difficult.

They only made prophetic declarations; they didn’t actually prophesy. Paul Enenche, Oyedepo, and others did not foretell Peter Obi’s future.

When you argue that Nigerian pastors let you down, it’s amusing because those who even provided prophetic guidance for rival candidates—was anyone listening to them?

“At the time, I stated that Tinubu was prepared to accept the victory by whatever means, and I also advised Obi and Atiku on how to win the election. However, did any of them take any action? Why are Nigerian pastors to blame?

The man of God went on to clarify that he is not referring to men of God who claimed that Tinubu’s inauguration as president wouldn’t go through, but rather to those who utilized their pastoral platforms to ask for prayers and support for Obi.

Ayodele continued

I’m not referring to pastors who predicted that the swearing-in would be invalid; rather, I’m referring to those who supported Obi during the election by using their pastoral platforms.

Between prophetic utterances and prophesies, there is a distinction. In the first, you declare your intentions to the Lord and ask Him to change circumstances.

They simply desired a change; they are not God. Stop blaming the prophets for everything that occurs in the nation.
